Sustainable Agriculture Promotion (SAP) is a specialty coffee business run by two generations, a father and daughter, in Nepal. We grow, process, roast and sell specialty Arabica coffee.
Our coffee thrives in fertile mountain soils, surrounded by the sounds of birds such as parrot, dove, gauthali (swallow), kalij (pheasant), and sparrow.
SAP Coffee Farm is 1,100–1,300m ASL in the mountains of Bagmati province. In the valley below our land, the great Sunkoshi River flows the length of Nepal and into India. It is an important tributary of the Ganges and the subject of traditional Nepali songs and ancient verses.
We grow Arabica Bourbon, yellow Caturra and Pacamara. The bright yellow and red cherries intermingle in the fields with the red of our national flower, the rhododendron.
We harvest coffee from November to the end of February. As new growth appears in spring, the coffee trees bloom with a glorious splash of white flowers in March-April. Coffee was first planted in Nepal because of its delicate white flowers. During spring, our fields are simply stunning with flowers.
We process our specialty Arabica coffee as naturals for roasted coffee, ground beans, green beans, and parchment. Currently our production is small at half a ton but we intend to double that by 2025.
We produce coffee for domestic consumption and for export to Japan and America. We are now looking to expand our customer base to other countries.
Our vision at SAP is to raise a sustainable economy, improve livelihoods for farmers and communities, and produce specialty Arabica coffee.
